CLOTHES CLOSET

 “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25

The clothes closet was started by Pastor Conway L. Knighton in 2004.  He saw a need to respond to the people in the community and church.  The church is located in a low income area and many people were in need of clothing and shoes for work school and just to wear.  The membership was challenged to meet this need.  The men and women were asked if they had not wormed an items in six months give it to the clothes closet and if their children had out grown their clothing to donate  to the clothes closet. The clothes closet began to grow with donations from the families  when they lost a love one they would give their clothing to the Saint Mary Baptist Church community clothes closet. 

The clothes closet is staffed with church volunteers.  No one is charged for the clothing.  If it fits they can have it.
